The River Lodge
Our rustic, well-appointed River Lodge tops the list of ‘most enjoyed spaces’. Perfectly situated at the river's bend, the River Lodge hosts community barbeques, parties and cool evenings by the camp fire with neighbors and friends. Enjoy an easy get together while you look out onto the waters of the northeast Cape Fear River.

Kayaking & Canoeing
The River Lodge is a perfect place to launch a canoe or kayak and enjoy the wonders of the Northeast Cape Fear River. With smooth, easy waters and lush, tree lined banks, the river here is the ultimate ‘trail’ when traveling by watercraft. You can keep your vessel secure in our kayak and canoe storage area beneath the River Lodge. So now there‘s no excuse to get out on the water and enjoy kayaking—the fasting growing world recreational sport!

Trails & Preservation
Explore our trails and you’ll be taking the scenic route to say the least. Winding for miles, they are accentuated by serpentine wooden foot bridges over creeks and protected wetlands.

From season to season, the trail provides a spectacle of color—wildflowers and lush vegetation abound. Bird-watchers take note: there are hundreds of species of native birds here. Try to find them all! Exercise your mental muscles while you’re walking, too, with our many specimen plantings, marked by species name, all along the trails.
