River Landing Welcomes Marines on Thanksgiving Day!
10.06.2011For the last three years many families within the River Landing community have been gracious enough to share their Thanksgiving holiday with Marines from Camp Lejeune. These Marines have enjoyed home-cooked meals and a fun day of activites including golfing, swimming, canoeing, playing basketball, or just hanging out in the living room watching football and relaxing.
Once again it’s getting close to that time of year when we have the wonderful opportunity to honor our troops with a great Thanksgiving Day celebration in River Landing.
This year we are limited to 100 Marines. Therefore we ask that you volunteer for no more than four in each home. In the rare event that we need to place more Marines, we will put out the call for additional assistance. Marines travel in pairs, called the “buddy” formation, and should remain together.
For those of you who would like to participate, please

who are the originators of this meaningful project.

Over the past couple of years we have had many River Landing Members & Residents, who have a full house during the Holidays or who travel out of town, request to make contributions to help support this special day. If you would like to make a contribution
please make a check out to River Landing specific to the
Marine’s Thanksgiving and drop it off to Sabrina Lewis,
Activities Director, at the Fitness Center.
Thanks for all your support the past three years as we look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this year
with our borrowed children.
